HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE

THURSDAYS

THE SECOND SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH
8:00 A.M. TO ~ 3:00 P.M.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY TO END OF NOVEMBER
$10.00 PER HOUR (INCLUDES VACATION PAY)

Work Description: The work will entail greeting of residents at the HHW site; inspecting the hazardous wastes being delivered; removing materials from the residents’ vehicles; packaging and/or bulking of the materials; and associated manual work, (opening, moving and sealing drums, bulking waste oil into tanks, bulking paints or paint solvents into drums, and general moving of materials on-site). Reuse of materials such as paint and cleaners is permitted.

Qualifications: Individuals with an interest in chemistry, environmental disciplines, or general sciences may find this to be an interesting placement. This position, although requiring hard work, will provide an awareness of the types of hazardous materials being stored in our homes and garages. This program has been effective in providing solutions to residents for the proper management of hazardous wastes and an effective alternative for keeping these materials out of our ditches and landfills.
